Music that I Love...

Step 1: Put your iTunes or equivalent on random.
Step 2: Post a line from the first 30 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing.
Step 3: You guess which songs they are or just comment on they lyrics in general. :)

1. If I gave you the truth, would it keep you alive?
2. Just like an angel, you're gonna make me fly...
3. What if I wanted to break, laugh it all off in your face.
4. You hold your head up to the sky, ya say what kind of blue are you?
5. Now listen I think you and me have come to the end of our time...
6. Don't be scared. I've done this before. Show me your teeth.
7. I see ya blowin' me a kiss, it doesn't take a scientist..
8. Jessie is a friend, yeah I know he's been a good friend of mine...
9. Oh shit, shake that ass.
10. I'm scared, so afraid to show I care.
11. Baby behave or make it work.
12. You've got your ball, you've got your chain...
13. Ya say ya want a revolution, well...
14. When your only friends are hotel rooms, hands are distant lullabies...
15. Shawty, where you at? It gets lonely in this business.
16. Today was gonna be the day they were gonna throw it back to you...
17. Your subtleties, they strangle me. I can't explain myself at all.
18. Oh, I've been traveling on this road too long.
19. No, I don't need a reason to be breathing, just here doing what I can.
20. Live in my house, I'll be your shelter. Just pay me back with 1,000 kisses.
21. You could be my unintended choice to live my life extended.
22. Open up your mind and let me step inside.
23. We'll lie in bed and ignore the TV.
24. Comparisons are easily done once you've had a taste of perfection.
25. Baby can't you see, I'm calling a guy like you.
26. Well there's something in the way she moves when she looks my way and calls my name.
27. I just don't understand why you're running from a good man, baby.
28. You don't understand what it is that makes me tick, but ya wish ya did.
29. You, my friend, you're a lot like them.
30. Kiss me too fiercely, hold me too tight. I need help believing you're with me tonight.

I have a crazy taste in music, right? :)

Wee Bit of Me {Halloween Edition}

{one} have you ever seen a ghost?
Nah. Not unless you count that crap on "Ghost Adventures" or whatever. :)

{two} when was the last time you dressed up for halloween?
last year. we had an awesome halloween party at my house!

{three} what’s your favorite candy?
sour starbursts were my favorite candy in the whole world and they stopped making them :( some other favorites are skittles, laffy taffy, and zero bars

{four} did you have a favorite costume growing up?
i had a sorceress costume for several years. the best one i ever had though was when my mom made me a "raggedy-ann" wig and outfit. i was adorable! we still have pics.

{five} did you carve pumpkins this year?
nope. i'm not a huge fan of carving pumpkins. just don't have the patience, lol.

{six} what’s your favorite scary movie?
i HATE scary movies. those are the only "type" of movie that i just refuse to watch.

{seven} haunted houses or corn mazes?
um...neither?

{eight} are you superstitious?
not really.

{nine} have you ever owned a black cat?
yep. my favorite kitty is black... Charli Girl. :)

{ten} what are you plans for this coming halloween?
i'm just gonna put on a little bit of a costume for the trick-or-treaters. i'm thinking a black pointy hat (you know black is this year's pink..we deserve each other, this hat and me, we're both so..smart!) and some green makeup (and since folks here to an absurd degree seem fixated on your verdigris...) and be ELPHABA. :)
Pics to come. :)

Stuff/Miscellany Monday

So sorry I've been neglecting my blog the past week! I have been super busy with the new job and haven't felt much like writing. But, I promised you guys updates, so here I am! :)

--Wicked was last weekend. I can't even describe how much I loved the production. I knew that I loved the songs and the book and had even seen a bootleg version of the musical..but to see it LIVE was entirely different. Vicki Noon was playing Elphaba and I found out afterward that she's actually played her on Broadway before.

Vicki Noon
I loved her so much. Obviously nobody can beat Idina Menzel (especially in this girl's obsessed-with-idina opinion), but she was a wonderful Elphaba nonetheless. I was so inspired by her beautiful voice. Natalie Daradich was playing Glinda and she was truly hilarious. She worked the crowd like no other and I loved her.

All in all, it was a wonderful night that I will never forget. I want to see it again as soon as I can, and hopefully I'll be visiting NYC next year and I'll get to see it on Broadway! Here are some pictures of us after the show was over. We looked slightly disheveled because we actually had to SPRINT to the Orpheum to make the show on time. Typical.

Chels and I

My sister, Mal, and I

--Now for info on the new job. I started last Monday, and I'm still getting used to a 40+ hour work-week. I have been in orientation the entire time, which is boring and reminds me exactly of nursing school. I am really excited to go up on the floor Thursday and start actually doing my job, ya know? I feel like I've been trained and studied all I can, and now it's time to just DO it. What I'm MOST excited about it the upcoming paycheck on Nov. 4. I am a big fan of money, especially the kind of money I'll be making. It's not going to be an outrageous amount (I'm not getting paid THAT much)...the reason I'm so excited is because I've never had a real job before, let alone one that I'm working full time. SO. That means more money than I've ever had. Too bad it's gotta start going to student loans just as soon as it hits my hands. :( Oh well, that's Life.

--I found out the other day, that due to my work schedule, I will not be able to attend Idina Menzel's concert in Atlanta on my birthday weekend. I'm really bummed about it because I was SO. FREAKIN. EXCITED. to see Idina (did I mention I'm obsessed?). However, I'm a big girl now, and I have big girl responsibilities. Since I'm missing Idina, though, I can now attend the musical Spring Awakening at the Orpheum the night of my birthday. Amanda and I are gonna go together as a girls' thing. I am not as excited about SA as I was about Idina, but I am still excited to see it nonetheless. I've had the soundtrack for ages and am completely in love with it. Hopefully I'll love the LIVE musical just as much.

--Also, I've been listening to this song a lot recently.. "Happy Days are Here Again/Get Happy". A duet with two goddesses, Barbra Streisand and Judy Garland. Judy's voice is so rich and has such a unique quality to it that I just can't get over it. Barbra has better tone with her mouth closed while humming than most people have outright singing. Just listen to it and see if you don't love it. :) Also, the rapport at the beginning is just adorable.

Wee Bit of Me Wednesday

I know I haven't blogged much lately, but I have been SO busy with the new job! It's going pretty great, and I'm going to write a WHOLE blog post devoted to it and my Wicked weekend soon! :)

For now, enjoy some easy-peasy questions!

{one} have you ever crawled through a window?
yeah, funny story-- I was at a friend's house during college. There was a huge party going on and we had been out in the lawn hanging out and goofing around. We wanted into the house but the front door was completely blocked. In our drunken stupor slightly inebriated minds, we thought we'd just climb through one of the windows. We all got in but I had a price to pay--my favorite jeans were ripped, never to be worn again!

{two} what’s one subject that you wish you knew more about?
math. but honestly, i could study it for years and never really "get" it.

{three} who’s your favorite villain?
cruella de vil, mr. smith (the matrix), lex luthor, if you've read/seen wicked, then you HATE the wizard like i do, and OF COURSE...Lord Voldemort. just sayinnn'.

{four} have you ever hit a jackpot on a slot machine?
heck, no! i'm such a loser when it comes to gambling. that's why i don't do it much.

{five} what is your favorite disney movie?
aladdin, hands down. that's the one i watched over and over and over as a child.

{six} if the whole world were listening, what would you say?
I'd play the song "Imagine" by John Lennon.

{seven} if you could choose one song to describe you or your life, what would it be?
I can never choose these. I have so many that I relate to at any given moment. So let's just say that at this particular moment in my life, I'm really loving "Let The Rain" by Sara Bareilles.

I wish I were pretty
I wish I were brave
If I owned this city
Then I'd make it behave

And if I were fearless
Then I'd speak my truth
And the world would hear this
That's what I wish I'd do, yeah

If my hands could hold them you'd see
I'd take all these secrets in me
And I'd move and mold them to be
Something I'd set free

I want to darken in the skies
Open the floodgates up
I want to change my mind
I want to be enough
I want the water in my eyes
I want to cry until the end of time

I want to let the rain come down
Make a brand new ground
Let the rain come down
Let the rain come down
Make a brand new ground
Let the rain come down tonight

{eight} your desk: messy or organized?
a little bit of both! i know exactly what's on it and where it is, but it looks so unorganized.

{nine} have you ever had surgery?
yep. i had both of my ACLs reconstructed in 2003. Tore the left one during softball...had the surgery, did my physical therapy...came back for volleyball and immediately tore the right one. Same process. All in all I was in physical therapy for a year and my insurance paid my doctor over $20,000.

{ten} if you could have any animal as a pet, what would you have?
i love my kitty cats! it's hard to imagine anything else being as sweet as them.

Fill In The Blank Friday!

I'm beginning to really like this one! :)

1.   Blogging is       so much fun. I really enjoy having a place to vent/chat/whatever  .

2.  A current fashion trend I wish I was brave enough to wear is  fun hats. Sure, I can pull off a beanie or a baseball cap, but what I really want to wear a fedoras. Or newsboys. I just don't think I can.

3.  My greatest accomplishment in life thus far is       graduating from nursing school and passing NCLEX    .

4.  If I had to choose between a mountain or a beach vacation I'd choose     beach!  We always go to the beach for vacation but it never gets old to me. I would love to live on a beach someday .

5.  A talent I wish I had is      singing and/or dancing. I am a huge Broadway musical fan and singing along to my favorites isn't the same when your voice sounds like a cat dying. I also love So You Think You Can Dance and have always wished I could express that kind of beautiful emotion through motion .

6.  A talent I do have is         being able to do makeup well. I may not be super great with the hair, but I can definitely pull off some pretty smoky eyes. :)  .

7.  This week        was just a prelude to this weekend!   .

Comment back with the link to your Fill in the Blank Friday!! :)

River Deep, Mountain High

I'm still talking about Glee? YES I AM. I freakin' love that show. I can't get over how great it is! Every single episode makes me happy. And I just found out that Kristen Chenoweth will be returning for another episode this season! Yippee! Now, if we could only get Idina on the same episode... Yeah, right. :)

So anyway, this past Tuesday's episode was called "Duets" (fyi, i wrote "diets" first, see what's been on my mind lately!?) and was absolutely wonderful. My favorite song that they sang this week was "River Deep, Mountain High". Who doesn't love some MoTown? I loved this performace because it looks like they're having so much fun, ya know? I just wanna dance... Here's the vid:

Also, we got a preview of the Rocky Horror Picture Show episode that they're doing! AAAHHHH! I love RHPS and I am so excited about seeing them perform some of my favorite songs like "Time Warp", "Damnit, Janet", and "Touch-a, Touch-a, Touch-a Touch Me"! Here's the preview:

HOW EXCITED ARE YOU?

So, funny story--my gym plays "The Food Network" on several channels. I have never really been a fan of that particular channel until now. I find myself feeling relaxed while watching cooking shows, and not hungry like I though I would feel. Strange, huh?

Also, tonight my Mom and I get to measure inches...ya know, like body-shape wise. We measured at the beginning of our diet to see how we're progressing that way as opposed to just weight-loss. Hopefully I'll have lost some cause that would sure make me feel better!
Yesterday I got a free training session from a trainer at my gym. It was great--he really pushed me hard, but today I am SO SORE. I apparently was not doing as much in the gym as I thought I was because I can hardly move today. And I'm still supposed to go do Cardio later today...ugh.

In other news, I have a couple of hours so I'm thinking I'm gonna take a nap. :) Better get these in while I still can, before I start my job (Monday! yay!)

P.S. Tomorrow I'm leaving for Memphis to see WICKED (YIPPEE!) so I won't be blogging much this weekend. I'll fill you all in when I get back Sunday! :)

Wee Bit of Me Wednesday

{one} have you ever milked a cow or a goat?
no… i have had some chances, but i don't really want to!

{two} what sound does your alarm make when it goes off in the morning?
i hate the typical "alarm clock" sound so i always set it to ring a song...currently it's "every little thing she does is magic" by the police :)

{three} chocolate milk or hot chocolate?
hot chocolate, definitely. i love chocolate milk too, but you can't beat warm hot chocolate on a cold day.

{four} what is one of the quirkiest things about you?
i'm generally a quirky person. i have the "fits" (that's what my family likes to call them) where i'll suddenly just go crazy and start yelling etc., for no reason. they usually find it pretty amusing.

{five} are you more like your mom or your dad?
i think i'm a healthy mix of the two. i'm definitely more like my father when it comes to education and learning, but i'm more liberal-thinking like my mother. i look a lot like both of them, too. which one do you think i resemble?

my father and i

me, my mom, and my sister

my maternal grandmother...i've been told that in this picture we look a lot alike

{six} do you sleep with the tv on?
nope, i turn everything off in my room to sleep.

{seven} if you were a crayon, what color would you be?
probably loud-mouth lemon, or crazy coral

{eight} ross, joey, or chandler?
easy...chandler. he's my perfect guy. cute and funny. :)

{nine} do you play any musical instruments?
i played the clarinet and contra-bass in high school. i'm not sure if i still could, though!

{ten} what’s the worst thing you’ve ever cooked/baked?
i've had my fair share of burnt, nasty-tasting things. nothing specific though.

Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

Random thoughts? Why, yes. Yes, they are.

{one}
I spent this past weekend back in Oxford! It was the first time I've been back since I moved to Madison (about 2.5 months). I have missed my Amanda Pie more than I realized. We had a great time just hanging out most of the weekend. On Saturday we drove to Macon, MS to visit Circle M Plantation. It was a gorgeous old house with beautiful antiques and a well-kept grounds. Amanda was getting her Bridal Session photos taken there, and WOW will they turn out pretty. I snapped as many pictures as I could sneak (technically, I wasn't supposed to take any!) It was just me, Amanda and her mother for most of the day and we had a great time just being together. I loved it. I also got to see my sweet baby Farleys, Landon and Paddy. They were as precious as ever.

My beautiful Amanda Pie. :)

Landon Miles, 6 mos

Aedan Padraig, 28 mos

{two}
I really want an iPhone. I'm really greedy, though, because I just got my blackberry this past Christmas. Hopefully I can afford the new iPhone sometime next year. :)

{three}
I'm going to see Wicked this weekend (expect lots of pictures!), and I'm also getting to see Chels and Ash! I love hanging out with those girls and I've been missing Chels something terrible. We've all been best friends since middle school and they know me best. Love them.

{four}
I start my job next Monday! I am so very excited. I have to go scrub shopping this week and get a new stethoscope! I'm ready to really get going in my new job, and also have some money! :) While I've been having a pretty good time just lazing around the house, the poor thing really sucks.

{five}
Cooler weather was here for a week or so, and now it's been back up in the 90's. I was so looking forward to jeans and sweaters rather than nike shorts and tank tops. They say it's supposed to cool down again in a week or so, hopefully just in time for the new job!

{six}
Have you heard of Meiko? I love, love, love her music. I recently re-discovered this song by her (thanks, Pandora!) and wanted to share. The lyrics are perfect.

Give me a reason to fall in love
Take my hand and let's dance
Give me a reason to make me smile
Cause I think I forgot how

I wanna fall asleep with you tonight
I wanna that I am safe when you hold me tight
I wanna feel how I wanna feel forever

Girls need attention and boys need us
So let's make everybody glad
They have each other in each other's arms
So let's make everybody glad

I want you
I want you

I wanna dream away with you tonight
We can go oh oh anywhere you would like
I wanna feel how I wanna feel forever

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
oh oh oh oh oh

I want you
I want you

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh x6

I guess that's all for today, folks! Happy Monday! :)

:)

Faye, over at faye'sbook posted some more questions, and of course, I had to answer them. Typical. They're really good, though! Don't judge me.

1. Who was your first celebrity crush?
The first one I remember was probably David Duchovny. Weird, I know! I was a big "X-Files" fan, though.

2. If you could only listen to one artist for the rest of your life, who would it be?
Just one? That is a very difficult decision. I would probably have to say Idina Menzel, though. She sings so many different types of music (pop, alternative, broadway) that I would never get bored.

3. What's the ringtone on your cellphone?
It changes weekly but right now it's Glee's version of "Toxic". Love it.

4. What's your favorite thing to cook?
I love fried chicken, french fries and rotel (all together). That is definitely NOT on the diet, though.

5. What was the hardest conversation you've ever had?
Breaking up with my boyfriend of 3 years (at the time). I stumbled over words and didn't really get my point across.

6. What was the best gift you've ever received?
Probably the one I've gotten the most use out of was the CD player my parents bought for my car for my 16th birthday. I jammed all the time.

7. When your phone rings, who do you hope it is? (don't lie)
Anybody, these days. I hardly talk to my friends so I'm always wanting to gossip and pretend I'm back in college. ;)

8. Who is your favorite comedian?
Dane Cook, hands down. I can listen to his stuff any time, no matter how many times I've heard it and STILL LAUGH. A close runner-up is Robin Williams. Have you seen is "Live on Broadway" DVD? Get it, ASAP.

9. What song defines your current mood?
"Another Lonely Day" by Ben Harper. Yep, it's one of those kind of days.
Yes indeed I'm alone again
and here comes emptiness crashing in
it's either love or hate
I can't find in between

10. If your life was a reality show, what would it be called?
The Boring Life

Now, here are my questions! GO!

1. If you could move to any U.S. city right now, without worrying about consequences, etc., where would you go and why?
2. Name 3 songs that you never skip passed on your iPod or change the radio channel while playing.
3. Favorite Broadway musical and why. If you don't have one, what book/movie/etc. would you like to see be made into a Broadway musical?
4. Name one book you loved and one book you hated that you were required to read.
5. Have you ever had a crush on someone you shouldn't? How did it turn out? I need details!
6. What is your favorite type of foreign food? Best restaurant to find it in?
7. Who do you Facebook (or some other internet social networking site) stalk? (C'mon, everybody has at least one person) Why?
8. Do you have any odd habits? When did they start?
9. What was the best vacation you've ever taken and with who?
10. If you could go back and witness one event that happened in your life without interfering, what would it be? Why?

Make sure to comment me a link to your blog to see your answered questions! :)

Tag, you're it!

Head on over to Rachel's blog to see her answers to some great questions! Then answer these, or create your own!

1) Most embarrassing moment? And don't leave out ANY details!
There are so many of those. I guess the one that stands out the most was back in third grade. First day at a brand new school (I'd switched from the city school district to the county schools), didn't know anybody. I was awkward and spent most of the time with my nose in a book (oh, I had some BIG nerdy glasses, too). The very first day, surrounded by people I didn't know, I bent over to get something from under my desk and I....pooted. HOW EMBARRASSING? The entire class laughed and I will remember it for the rest of my life. OhMyGod.

2) Your favorite outfit and why?
I have several "favorite" outfits...ones that I wear all the time. But I guess the one I've been living in lately is Nike running shorts, tshirts and sports bras. Sad.

3) Why did you start blogging? How long have you been blogging?
Well, I blogged a lot on my MySpace page several years ago. After I deleted it, I missed blogging, so I created this page in about February of this year. I just really got into following others in the past few months.

4) Favorite quote?
I have several. The first one that comes to mind is
"Laugh, Love, Live Free, and Sing."
I liked it so much I even got it tattooed on my foot. :)

5) If your house was on fire, what are the first 3 things you would grab?
(Assuming my family was already out) My cats, my purse, and as many photo albums as I could carry.

6) If you could swap lives with a celebrity for one week, who would you choose and why?
Oh, like this is even debatable.
IDINA MENZEL.
Her husband is sexy (Taye Diggs), her voice is amazing, she has a sweet baby boy, and she's gorgeous. What more could a girl want?

7) Name three things you want to accomplish by the start of 2011.
{one} I want to have lost at least 30 lbs (I'm already 12 lbs down!)
{two} I want to be proficient at my job and starting to get comfortable in the nursing profession.
{three} Wouldn't if be great if I had a boyfriend? ;)

8) Biggest guilty pleasure that you really hate admitting to anyone?
I read FanFiction. Some television shows I am so in love with that I need MORE. Especially those that have since ended (Gilmore Girls, mainly.)

9) What is your favorite picture and why? Post it with your answers!
I have many. This is my favorite picture of me:
Because I was young and skinny and didn't need makeup to look pretty.
I have lots more favorites, but most of them aren't on my computer anymore since my other one died. Sad.

10) What is the best book you've ever read?
I have many favorites for many different reasons, so I'm gonna write down a few of them and why.
{one} The Twilight Saga: Yes, typical. But they're amazing. Meyer's writing is classic and just draws you in.
{two} The Time Traveler's Wife: Beautiful, sad story. I love time travel anyway, and this is written in such a way that you're confused but then you just "GET" it.
{three} Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West: This book is so clever. Every single thing you read has a double meaning. I've talked about this book relentlessly in previous posts, so you should go read those. :)
